Seniors
I am committed to ensuring that our senior citizens receive secure benefits, safe from the gamble of privatization.
We must work to keep prescription drug costs low and simplify Medicare benefits, to bring assistance to all of our seniors. Negotiating drug prices should become the norm; we need to look for ways to lower costs for all involved parties, especially for those who rely on daily prescription drugs.
Congressman English voted to raid the Social Security Trust fund of $1 trillion over five years to help pay for other government spending. He supported the Bush privatization plan, which would have put Social Security assistance at risk in private savings accounts. This is unacceptable; we cannot take funds away from senior citizens at the time they need them most.
After years of giving to their country it is time for us to recognize and respect that lifetime of service by protecting their benefits.
